Senior Agricultural Officer (Plant Protection) for FAO

Yubak, a national of Nepal, is a Senior Agricultural Officer (Plant Protection) in the Regional Agricultural Program (RAP), Bangkok. After his decade long career in the field of agriculture, he has recently joined FAO.

In his career, he has served governmental and international agencies in various capacities from agricultural research, to teaching, to agricultural extension and policy. His specializations are plant protection, pesticides, IPM, biopesticides and entomology. In academia, he had spent more than a decade as an Assistant Professor of Plant Protection at Tribhuvan University, Nepal and he also acted as the Head in the Department of Entomology. While involved in the teaching profession, he joined Civil Service of the Government of Nepal through vertical entry in the position of Joint Secretary (Plant Protection).

Starting from 2008 until 2012, Yubak was National IPM Coordinator for the FAO Country Program and Plant Protection Directorate of Nepal in the Norwegian Government Supported IPM Program. While serving to this capacity, Government of Nepal had designated him as a focal person to APPPC and IPPC. Yubak also served as Director General for the Department of Environment and then Department of Agriculture. He has been a Secretary in the Ministry Livestock Development and Forestry and Environment. Prior to joining FAO, he was a Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development of the Government of Nepal. He is a life member of the Plant Protection Society of Nepal. During his entire tenure he supported and collaborated with the IPM Innovation Lab activities in Nepal.
