Tajik ambassador to the U.S. visits Michigan State, Central Asia IPM IL team

Tajikistan’s ambassador to the United States visited the Michigan State University campus as a guest of the Central Asia IPM IL project in late May 2011.

Mr. Abdujabbor Shirinov met with Karim Maredia, lead investigator of the Central Asia IPM IL, at Maredia’s invitation. Shirinov met with the project team to learn about their work in food security and to share his own ideas about furthering collaboration in his country.

IPM IL work in Central Asia encompasses research in tomatoes, potatoes and wheat, all key crops for the region. Shirinov said he appreciates the project’s blend of socioeconomic work alongside the specific crop-based research.
