Questions and Answers

1. Has any transect data been collected? If so, can you provide some details about who has the data, when it was collected, and the kind of data collected?

A. Not to our knowledge.

2. If data already exists, are you looking for an expansion of the data base, validation of existing data or both?

A. We are not aware of any transect data.  If you find existence of such data, you may expand as well as validate.

3. Can you provide some background regarding the selection of the specific transects in this bullet: “Spatio-temporally assess biodiversity by laying transects at 300 m elevation intervals starting at Terai to about 3,000 m in the Himalayas in Nepal.”

A. Terai is in the altitude of 60 to 300 meters. It is proposed that transects/quadrats be laid approximately at every 300 m from terai up to about 3000 m altitude. There are roads that connect cities in ‘terai’ and  cities in ‘Himalayas’ at 3000 m and above.

Transects/Quadrats could be started either from west, middle or eastern parts of Nepal. The line will run south to north.

Observations be carried out every three or six months for a duration of four and a half years.
