Tadele Tefera

Principal Investigator for IPM for Rice, Maize, and Chickpea in East Africa

Education: Ph.D., Agricultural Entomology, Stellenboch University; M.S., Plant Pathology, Haramaya University; B.S., Plant Sciences, Haramaya University.

Tadele Tefera is the Country Head for icipe Ethiopia. He has more than 15 years of experience in IPM education, research, and development from national and international institutions. He served as senior entomologist and IPM expert at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT Nairobi). His research focused mainly on developing maize hybrids and inbred lines. He’s worked closely with small-scale farmers, donors, policy makers, national agricultural research and extension systems, development program, NGOs, and the private sector.
