Buyung Hadi is an entomologist at the International Rice Research Institute. He leads the research program on the utilization of endophytic entomopathogenic fungi and plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria in rice pest management. He also contributed to the creation of the pest management and pesticide usage standards for Sustainable Rice Platform. He also worked previously as the Pesticide Education and Urban Entomology Coordinator at South Dakota State University. He has published studies on sudden death syndrome in soybeans, yellow dwarf virus in barley, and wheat streak virus.
